Vusr Venue — VR arcade management

Real-time systems · 2018 — 2020 · Lead Software Developer · Secret Location · Lives on today as Vessel Arcade.

One employee running an entire VR arcade: real-time control of every station, the content on it, and the hardware underneath.

VR arcades were opening everywhere, and each one had the same problem: a room full of expensive computers that each needed a human babysitter. Vusr Venue was arcade-management software that let a single employee run the whole floor — start and end sessions, distribute content to stations, and watch the hardware and software health of every machine in real time.

The system spanned three surfaces — a backend server, a web portal for the operator, and a Windows app on every station — all speaking gRPC to keep session control, updates, alerts, and monitoring fast and live.

It shipped beyond our own walls: by the end of 2018, European VR provider mk2 was running its VR pods on Vusr Venue — over 100 pods installed across their locations.
